Introducing our new Principal Race Officer, Peter Gerard!
If you have been racing in Newport, RI chances are you have come across Peter on several occasions. Peter brings with him years of race committee experience and we couldn't be more excited to have him with us this year!
In 2023, Peter will be serving as the Principal Race Officer of the NYYC Annual Regatta, the Tiedemann Regatta, the Camden Classics Cup Regatta, the Herreshoff Classic Regatta, and the Newport Classic Regatta.

Peter's Background:
Lives in Dallas, TX and Newport, RI.
Member of the New York Yacht Club, Ida lewis Yacht Club, Storm Trysail Club, past commodore of Rush Creek Yacht Club (Dallas).
Board member of the 12mR Yacht Club, The Sailing Hall of Fame and The Sailing Museum, the Herreshoff Maritime Museum.
Member of the Classic Yacht Owners’ Association Technical Committee.
Member of the NYYC Race Committee, The Ida Lewis Yacht CLub Race Committee.
US Sailing Certified Regional Race Officer and National Judge.
Principal Race Officer in 2023 for the NYYC Annual Regatta, the Tiedemann Regatta, the Camden Classics Cup Regatta, the Herreshoff Classic Regatta, and the Newport Classic Regatta.
Judge for the Safe Harbor Race Weekend, the Sail Newport Regatta, Shields Nationals, US Sailing Championship of Champions Regatta.
Past president of the the Shields One Design Class, Past VP of the International 12 Metre Class, Past Fleet Captain of the America’s 12 Metre fleet, Chair of the 2019 12 Metre Class World Championship Regatta.
